“Love, like life, never dies. It merely shifts.” Barbara Boyer
New England raised San Diego author Barbara Boyer takes readers through a
suspense-filled journey of love and conflict with her inspirational fiction
novel, Courage of Fear (Release Dec. 2008) where critics commonly refer to her
writing as the female Nicholas Sparks. Boyer’s Courage of Fear draws on her
many years of her own person spiritual quest to share philosophies that prove
to inspire and enlighten while entertaining and enthusing readers forward from
start to finish—leaving them wanting more.
“Angela Hearly-Peterson had it all—a beautiful home, adoring husband, a mansion
in the Hollywood Hills, even a Pulitzer for her bestselling inspirational
memoir Wrestling With the Demons. Little does Angela know it’s all about to
come crumbling down. Her husband Jackson00the beloved ‘moon to her sea’—has a
secret gambling problem and has lost their entire fortune. In debt to Las Vegas
casinos, he commits an almost unspeakable act that will send Angela into a
downward spiral. She flees the West Coast for her family compound on Nantucket,
where she plans to end the miserable charade that her life has become. The
island remains home to people who still love Angela and remember the little
girl she used to be before fame and fortune struck. One man in particular has
been waiting for her return. Leo, her unrequited high school boyfriend, still
holds a torch or Angela and believes that they will end up together. Slowly,
the motley group of islanders bands together to coax Angela back from the
edge.” —Simms, Kirkus
Each chapter begins with inspirational quotes from Courage of Fear protagonist’s
Pulitzer book Wrestling With the Demons, which in of itself would make for a
superb daily meditation book. Kelly Moran, author and Reviewer
(Bookpleasures.com) states this to be “an excellent choice. It made the book
stand apart from the rest and only added to the potency of the story.” Moran
continues with “hauntingly powerful inspirational fiction novel that will toy
with your emotions in ways you cannot fathom. Cleverly written and deftly
portrayed, Boyer creates unforgettable characters with an intense plot-line. Her
extensive vocabulary and understanding of the human condition makes for a great
read. … the ending was phenomenal. If you are in the mood for a good laugh, cry,
or intellectually stimulating read, I suggest you pick up Courage of Fear.
Kirkus Molly Simms writes, “Riveting until the end…a delightful bit of
postmodernism ending… suspenseful, exciting…full of indelible characters who
will hook enthusiastic readers. Boyer is adept at writing details that bring
characters to life… Page turning inspirational fiction…”
Edna Maters, Avid Reader (Phoenix AZ) reported, “Sad and heartbreaking.
Triumphant and joyous. Unpredictable and surprising…a treat. When can we expect
the next one?”
Courage of Fear directs its readers that bad things don’t happen to good
people, life happens—insisting that “Love is not an act based on conditions.
Love is the condition that all other acts are based on. Love for our Creator.
Love for others. Love for ourselves.”—while the story engages readers to
understand that there is always purpose in everything that always leads to the
bigger picture as a whole (self).

About the Author: Barbara Boyer used writing as a passionate outlet from the time of
her youth (dealing with the dragged out loss of her mother to cancer, teen runaway,
teen pregnancy, addiction, single-parenthood.) Once Boyer’s daughter was enrolled in
law school she resigned from her inpatient counseling position to pursue her life
long dreamed of career as a screen writer. Her personal story is as uplifting as
Courage of Fear. To learn more about the hilarious “hoospa of the writer chasing a
dream…of the runaway that believed she could” visit her website www.beboyer.com and
